Flute and Piccolo
Performance
Amy Taylor
is an accomplished
flute and piccolo player with a sensitive, poetic sound. She graduated magna cum laude
from the University of North Texas with a Bachelors in Music, and
earned her Masters in Music from Northwestern University.
Amy is the
Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra piccolo player
for the 2008-2009 season. She has also performed this year with the
Chicago Symphony,
Lyric Opera of Chicago,
the
Minnesota Orchestra,
Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra, and the Honolulu Symphony.
In 2007 Amy was
selected to perform the part of the Red Maiden in a
production of The Stone Horse with cellist YoYo Ma, the Silk
Road Ensemble, and the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. She also
participated in MusiCorps, a music
education and advocacy program sponsored by the Chicago Symphony
Orchestra that promotes music awareness and appreciation.

Lost
can
catch her performance with the Honolulu Symphony on the Season IV
Lost DVD, which will be available in December 2008.
Chicago Symphony Orchestra Asia Tour
In February 2009, Amy will join the CSO as it goes on
tour in Asia for three weeks. The orchestra has performances
scheduled in Tokyo, Hong Kong, Shanghai, and Beijing.
Flute lessons in Milwaukee
Amy teaches flute lessons
throughout the Milwaukee area. A patient, disciplined, caring instructor, she was
mentored by just such teachers herself: Southern Methodist
University Professor Claire Johnson, Dallas Opera First Flutist
Helen Blackburn, UNT Professor Terri Sundberg, and Chicago Symphony
flute legend Walfrid Kujala.
She provides
instructions for flute and piccolo students of all ages and at all
levels.
